Kamen Briag
North of the city of Varna, there is a village expressively called Kamen Briag / or which means Stony Coast/. The Stone Coast (Kamen Bryag in Bulgarian; known also as ‘Yaylata’) lies on the sea coast between the beautiful Kaliakra and Shabla capes. A village by the same name of Kamen Bryag (Stone Coast) is located 2km north of the Yaylata area.Although Yaylata is a bit far from the most popular resorts and hence is little known as a tourist attraction, it is one of the most amazing places along the Bulgarian coast. It represents an oval ledge, broken off the Dobrudja plate by the coast. The big cliffs make this area almost inaccessible, except via a few narrow paths among the rocks. About 40 caves can be found in the vertical cliffs hanging over the sea. Their smoothed walls and niches dug deep into the rock speak about the existence of an ancient cave settlement there. There are also remains of a stronghold dating back to Roman and Byzantine times. A 90 ha region is declared a protected archaeological area. Between the village of Kamen Briag and the sea shore lies a stretch of land covered in August with yellow grass and ripe thorns. The soil at this place is several inches deep, beneath is rock. Found around are small amounts of oil, small amounts of natural gas and a large number of tales.

Below you can see one of the probable tombs. You can be assume i think cause what you see are 6-8 thousand years old tombs. The vault is accessible through several steps, which are seen on the near side of the picture. They lead to an opening, which lets into the burial chamber. The chamber itself is a pyramid proper: measuring two by two steps across and about two metres high. Ten metres away from this tomb there is another one, next to it still other, then one more and so they stretch along for kilometres around. Archaeologists have uncovered some twenty of them. The rest have lain low under the scorched grass for thousands of years.

The entrance is viewed from above. Visible are the steps. In this case, they are three. The lowest one is the steepest. This is how the burial chamber looks like from the inside. It is empty and all of the other uncovered tombs were empty too. The air is thick and flexible. The burial chamber of the tomb has the form of an equilateral truncated pyramid, truncated by a Sun-lit aperture, an opening to Heaven and the Universe.

This amazing area around Kamen Briag is full of tombs. Here is another tomb that is located very near. Further away lies still other and so they follow one after the other for kilometres around. The uncovered tombs here are thousands.

Close to the sea, amidst this strange graveyard, there is a Throne cut in. Right, this is the Throne of those unknown priests, of that unknown religion, and of that unknown people. The Throne is made up of three steps. They face straight east, overlooking the sea. People with extrasensory perceptions claim this is the precise place where unusual cosmic energy comes down. In any case, sitting in the Throne is visibly refreshing. Behind the Throne is the sacrificial altar. Please note the groove marked by the blue lines.
The Throne at Stony Fields
Scholars assume the rectangle cut into the rock to be the sacrificial altar. It is right behind the throne. The groove highlighted in a previous picture is more readily visible here. This is the snakelike cleft on the far side of the rectangle. The offering’s blood must have been draining down it, as the Priest was looking ahead. One wonders what exactly he was looking at.
