The ferscoes at the Thracian tomb near Kazanlak are mural paintings by the Thracian Kodzimasis and the tomb has been ordered by the possessor Roygos, son of Seuthes III.


Such hot news were announced by associate professor Konstantin Boshnakov for the department of ancient history, Thracology and Middle ages history in Sofya University at the end of the last week, Friday, 20th May. The associated professor figures that on an fresco at the Thracian tomb near Kazanlak is illustrated the ruler Roygos and his father Seuthes III . An year ago, mister Boshnakov saw superscription straight at the cupola inside the tomb, made above the figures of the two posessors and at the field of thеse three chariots. The associated professor have doubts about this and after the confirmation of his request to get in and do new pictures, that corroborate the theory. At the following studies with infra red and ultraviolet shines,the scientists have found that the superscription “painted by Kodzimasis” and under it the following: ” Roygos, son of Seuthes III “. These captions and frescoes have been done at the end of III century before Christ. They are at height of about 3.20 meters at the tomb and the letters are with dimensions from 10 to 60 mm.
The ancient painter Kodzimasis is well known by the ancient history, his autograph was found at the mural paintings inside the tomb near Alexandrovo village, Haskovo municipality, which is 30-40 years older than the tomb near Kazanlak. The Thracian tomb of Kazanlak from 1979 is signed at the registry of UNESCO as historical and architectural importance that is a record of the past with international significance.
