The situated in the south-eastern party of the present city Varna Roman thermae (balnearia, Balneae and balineae also) are the biggest public, ancient building ever found in Bulgaria, after Perperikon probably. These quite preserved walls are tracing out the imposing dimensions of this building, erected up on about 7000 square meters terrain. The fat walls has been built in specific technology, that take it in turns stone wall and five to six ranges of densely clay bricks. That inside stairs and the vault arch of the doors are shaped by enormous stone blocks, there are still rests at some places from terrific mosaic fragments. They are giving us quite good imagination for the rich decoration of the public building, along with the marble fragments, the capitals and the tiges.

The Mystery Begins This inscription ( in Greek letters) written at marble plaque, situated inside the church is getting us back in the time, at the troubled times, when this temple has been built. It remains that this is the olderst church in Varna, fact that makes us asking ourself: What we knows about it? This inscription is so short.. We knows the church ‘ the Assu of Most Holy Merry’ in this condition, but it is due to reconstructions. Originally the Temple has been with dimensions 7 meters long and 8 meters weight. The first reconstruction adds little angle to west with enlargement of 2.4 meters. Much later, it is enlarged with 4.5 meters more and lastly, following the same direction there is enlargement 7.5 meters and rise with about 0,40 meters. That is the way how the temple has been shaped for the view in present time.

At the last couple of years the Temple has been fully renovated and we all owe a debt of gratitude to these three persons about it- Dimiter Lefterov, Lazar Vichev and Edelvais Nikolov and all other sponsors, donors and contributors.

Very esteemed and interesting golden items were found at the ancient stronghold Markeli, Karnobat municipality. These 37 golden coins of three Byzantium emperors were found at clay jar along with golden ring and five gold-plate rings.
