Very esteemed and interesting golden items were found at the ancient stronghold Markeli, Karnobat municipality. These 37 golden coins of three Byzantium emperors were found at clay jar along with golden ring and five gold-plate rings. Such treasures are rare for our lands, explains Dochka Aladjova from the archaeological institute at the Bulgarian Academy for Science, which was found at the place for observing the find.
31 coins with Nikephoros I (or Nicephorus I, 1078-1081 year) likeness ,four by Alexius I Comnenus (or Alexios I Komnenos 1092- 1118 year ) and two other by John II Komenos (Comnenus, 1118- 1143 year).
